PIE paragraph for essay

 Unlimited Attempts Allowed


This is a draft for a possible body paragraph (PIE) for the essay on our novel.  You are starting to build a PIE for your essay. 

Your post will be in paragraph form with all 4 items below.

  1. What is ANOTHER element of fiction you are interested in at this point?  (different from the one last week)  ______________________________.
  2. Now, what do you want to PROVE about this? 

      1. Why do you think it’s important?  In other words, why's it crucial that Ng presents it to us? 
      2. (This will be your “P," so make sure it's arguable and interesting: it needs to go beyond fact, beyond just that it is present in the book.)
    Available until May 28, 2022 11:59pm
    1. What from the text speaks to this element of fiction? (Info)
      1. Include at least 2 quotes here-- introduce each quotation by summarizing the scene it is from
      2. Format quotations, including page numbers, using MLA guidelines.
      3. For each quote, paraphrase it using your own words. This should follow immediately after the quote, before you go into the next quote.
      4. For each quote, explain how it connects to your Point. Why did you include it in your paragraph?
    2. What can be learned from these quotes? (Explanation)
      1. What do certain words or phrases imply?
      2. What's being suggested from them? 
      3. How do both quotes together prove your Point?

     

    Deadline extended to Friday, May 27 for full credit. Reduced credit by Saturday, May 28.

    I'm running behind this week, so I'd like to grade the "One Element of Fiction + Passage" first because it is similar to this assignment. But remember to do the other assignments for Friday!
